Pet TCG cards: owner artwork and concept examples

Sasha is a real dog from one of our own sample packs. Her owner brought a painted image of her at the front of a paddleboard on Diablo Lake, and it became a Water card: HP 90, type line "Adventure Pup · Lake Captain," and a Helm Command ability for directing every board on the lake. The flavor text is the trip itself: "It was a windy one."

Biscuit (Lightning, for the zoomies) and Mochi (Magic, for the 3 a.m. mysteries) use the same formula on an ordinary pet photo: one good image, an element that fits, and two abilities from things your pet actually does.

Pet ability ideas

Each one fits the card: a name, a one-line description, and a damage number. More in attack name ideas.

Dogs

  • Zoomies 30Circles the yard at full speed. Nobody knows why.
  • Puppy Eyes 50Your snack is now their snack.
  • Doorbell Alarm 40Warns the whole street about one delivery.
  • Sock Thief 20Steals one sock. Never both.

Cats

  • Knock It Off 20Removes one item from any counter. Maintains eye contact.
  • Keyboard Nap 40Sits on the laptop exactly when it matters.
  • 3 a.m. Sprint 60Runs the hallway at full speed for no reason.
  • Nine Lives 90Survives the vacuum, the bath, and the vet. Holds a grudge.

Every other pet

  • Wheel of Fortune 30Runs all night. Goes nowhere. (Also hamsters.)

  • Basking Mode 50Recharges under one lamp all afternoon. (Reptiles.)

Pick your pet's element

Choose one of 9 element symbols (Fire, Water, Plant, Lightning, Wind, Magic, Neutral, Metal, and Earth), let the card color pick one, or show no icon. The symbol always takes the card's accent color.

ElementGood for
FireThe competitor, the hothead, the one who never lets a game end on a loss
WaterLake dogs, swimmers, surfers, and anyone happiest near water
PlantGardeners, hikers, the plant parent with forty houseplants
LightningThe fastest one in the house: zoomies, sprinters, toddlers
WindTravelers, runners, the friend who is always on the move
MagicCats, mysterious types, artists, and the one nobody can predict
NeutralThe steady one everybody counts on
MetalThe tough one: lifters, builders, the tank of the group
EarthGrounded and loyal: big dogs, grandparents, the heart of the team

How to make a pet trading card

1

Pick the TCG style

Choose TCG in the creator and pick a card color; it suggests an element.

2

Upload their photo

A clear, well-lit photo where you can see their face. Zoom and position it in the art window.

3

Give them stats

A name, HP, a type line like "Couch guardian", and two abilities from their real habits.

4

Order it

One Display Card in a clear case ($29.99), or a Pack of 10 for every pet in the house ($49.99).

Frequently asked questions

How do I turn my pet into a trading card?+

Choose the TCG style in the Cardbop creator, upload a photo of your pet, and add their name, HP, element, a type line, and up to two abilities. You preview the front, back, and case before you pay. $29.99 for one Display Card and $49.99 for a 10-card Card Pack. Designing is free, and you can personalize one in minutes.

What should my pet's HP be?+

Whatever makes the joke land. Many people match HP to size or attitude: a tiny, fearless dog at 200 or a big, gentle one at 40. HP is optional; leave it blank and nothing prints.

What abilities should I give my dog or cat?+

Use their real habits: zoomies, begging, stealing socks, ignoring you, sitting on keyboards. A short name and a one-line description read best on the card.

What photo works best?+

A sharp photo in good light where their face is clear. The TCG art window is wider than it is tall, so a landscape photo or one with room around your pet frames best.

Can I make a card for every pet I have?+

Yes. A 10-card Card Pack holds 10 cards, each with its own photo, name, HP, and abilities.

Can I use a drawing or painting of my pet instead of a photo?+

Yes, if you made it, commissioned it, or have permission to use it. Upload a photo or art you made, commissioned, or have permission to use. We can't print characters from shows, games, or movies you don't own the rights to.

Will it look like a card from a real trading card game?+

It uses a game-card layout with HP, an element symbol, abilities, and flavor text, in Cardbop's own original design. It's a personal collectible, not a playable game card.

How much does a pet trading card cost?+

$29.99 for one Display Card and $49.99 for a 10-card Card Pack. Designing is free, and you can personalize one in minutes.
